Raahe’s official Oulu2026 cultural programme has been published
In 2026, Oulu and all of Northern Finland will be filled with culture, art, and events. Raahe is proud to join the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture year together with 39 northern municipalities.
The cultural celebration begins on 23–25 January with the Oulu2026 Opening Weekend in Raahe, featuring:
- the grand opening of the new multipurpose event centre in Koivuluoto
- a spectacular Gala Concert with two large orchestras at Raahe Event House
- festive openings and open doors at Raahe’s museums, celebrating the results of two years of development
Throughout the year, the city will host a diverse range of cultural events and unique artistic experiences, including:
- Ritva-Liisa Pohjalainen’s Lifetime Exhibition
- the Takaranta Art Path
- Old Town Raahe’s House, Environment and Act of the Year Award
- Long Table Dinner Raahe
- and a spectacular Light Art Event at Raahe Event House to crown the autumn season
In addition, the programme will feature Raahe Soi Music Week, the School Graduation Weekend, as well as traditional events such as Pekanpäivät Heritage Festival, Raahe Maritime Festival, Raahen Pimiät Festival, and the Night of the Arts.
The cultural programme will continue to expand, with further highlights to be announced later this year.
