Pooki Flakkaa - Raahe Maritime Festival 12.-13.7. - a weekend full of maritime experiences

The maritime weekend in Raahe full of great experiences includes a lot of different activities for the whole family both at land and at sea on July 12th and 13th 2019. The fifth annual event, which has been popular in the previous years, features the idyllic Raahe Museum beach district. There are many events happening in Pikkulahti also!

Shine of the sea city and glamour of the fair atmosphere

One of the definite highlights of the Maritime festival is The Komers Old Times Market, which breathes the atmosphere of the sailship era. Plastic mass products are not allowed in this market and the stage is set for handmade products made of natural ingredients. The Komers Old Times Market features sellers from all over Finland. Browsing the stalls and admiring the handcraft products makes the time fly by without even noticing.

The width of the maritime program is more versatile than ever before

The atmospheric Raahe Museum Beach is once again full of gorgeous ships, when f.ex Jähti of the Bothnic Sea, Galleon Ansio, and Beneteau Oceanis-sailship Melanita. Come and be amazed of all the ships and sail with them! Team Barbender’s water MX performances and Go Hero Flyboarding’s head spinning shows bring modern flair into the event program.

Children’s sea adventures, fluffy animals and characters from the past

The pirate adventure, which has attracted families is now known as Lalli’s & Sikke’s Sea Adventure. Field of Traditions offers an opportunity to try for example log swoop or old ball throwing game called mölkky. You can spend a relaxing moment with friendly domestic animals. At least a donkey, mule, alpacas and friendly dogs are joining in to delight us. Also Raahe’s former mayor Henrik Corte and president Kekkonen have promised to visit our festival.

Also Pikkulahti, unique Raahe islands and idyllic old town are calling to enjoy summer experiences

Friends of outdoor activities will get a chance to refresh themselves during the weekend with f.ex fatbiking, SUP boarding or canoeing. Traditional Multisport Pikkulahti is held on Saturday. Travel guides offer a chance to experience the Old Raahe. The museums of Raahe City Centre are also open. And what better way to crown the weekend than a trip to Raahe’s acclaimed islands or a unique music dinner with Irina’s hits at Cafe Ruiskuhuone.

The world’s largest traditional sailing ship celebrates the sea town’s 370th anniversary in Port of Raahe

During the same weekend Raahe is visited by the largest traditional sailing ship in the world, when the four-masted barque Sedov arrives to Port of Raahe as a part of the city’s 370th anniversary celebration. Sedov is open to visitors Saturday July 13th from 10 to 18 and Sunday July 14th from 10 to 15. The gates of the harbour area close half an hour before the end of the visiting time. Visitors are advised to take the free transports, which leave from Raahe City Centre (non-stop bus and old-style train transports). Please take cash with you if you want to purchase souvenirs from Sedov´s small boutique.
