Borrowing and returning
Borrowing and returning
In the OUTI online library, you can search and reserve materials, renew loans, check your own personal information and pay library fees through online banking. In order to log into the online library you need, besides your library card, a PIN code, for which you can apply at any OUTI library.
You can have up to 100 loans and 100 reservations at a time. The loan periods are 28 or 14 days, except for objects, for which the loan period varies from 1 to 28 days.
The library complies with age limits for films and games, and does not lend them to customers under the age limit. For more information about age limits for games and films, please visit https://kavi.fi/en/new-age-rating-materials-in-english/.
Loans can be renewed if they are not reserved. You can renew a loan for up to seven times. You can renew a loan through the OUTI online library, at the library, by telephone, or by e-mail.
You are responsible for returning your loans on time or renewing them. You can return loans to any OUTI library free of charge. The loan period ends on the due date at the library’s closing time. If a loan is overdue, the library will send two requests for its return. A fee will be charged for these requests.
You can opt to have an e-mail reminder of approaching due dates through the OUTI online library. The library is not responsible for overdue loans even if a reminder is not sent or if it is not received by the customer.
If the library has a returns deposit slot, you can return materials through it, at your own risk, while the library is closed. If you return a loan through the deposit slot while the library is closed, the return is recorded the next day that the library is open.
