After-school activities

After-school activities in accordance with the Basic Education Act are intended for pupils in grades 1 and 2 of schools operating in Raahe as well as for pupils with a decision on special-needs support in accordance with the Basic Education Act.

Applying

An announcement and instructions on applying for after-school activities is sent in January to pupils starting first grade in the autumn. The enrolment is carried out through Wilma. Existing Wilma credentials are used in the enrolment of future grade 2 pupils. It is possible to apply for after-school activities after the application period using an application form.

Information on applying for after-school activities is provided in the local newspaper, on the Town of Raahe’s website and through Wilma.

The guardian will receive a decision regarding placement in after-school activities during the spring.

After-school activities are implemented by the Education Services of the Town of Raahe and organised by the school principals/leaders.

The activities include, for example, crafting, play, exercise, outdoor activities, handicrafts, independent activities and a possibility to rest. The child can do homework at the location if this has been agreed between the parents, teacher and instructor. The children are offered a snack during the activities. After-school activities are instructed by school assistants.

After-school activities start when school ends (at 11 am or 12 noon) and continue until 4.30 pm. The activities are organised on all school days except those falling on a Saturday. After-school activities are not organised during school holidays.
